Water treatment
Ultrafiltration is a pressure-activated membrane filtering process used to separate and/or purify dissolved or suspended particles. The ultrafiltration membranes are porous and are generally rigid and highly permeated. Two major types of UF modules can be found on the market, namely hollow fibre and spiral wound membranes. Most of the materials used in Ultrafiltration are polymeric and hydrophobic. Polymeric materials include Polysulphone (PS), Polithersulphone (PES), Polypropylene (PP), or Polyvinylidenefluoride(PVDF). The filtration process can take place in two mode sand more specifically in blind filtration (dead-end) or cross-flow filtration (cross-flow).
